The Mary Rose Trust

With a focus on diverse audiences, in particular those with special needs, explore how interactive digital platforms could be used as a learning tool to interpret heritage collections.

The Mary Rose Trust is due to open to the public in late 2012 the new Mary Rose Museum at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Staff and students at Solent University will be working with them to develop learning tools, with a specific focus on audiences with special needs. Students will have access to a wealth of archive material (footage of excarvation and raising, videos, illustrations, photos) to inspire a whole range of resources.

Expected outcomes:

  • Development of prototyes and products for the Meseum;
  • Enhanced visitor experience for diverse audiences;
  • Students gain industry experience;
  • Research and knowledge development.
