Hack The Park!

A battle of concepts in augmented reality  
Five teams, five concepts, 72 hours, and one prize of € 2500.–
Put a team together that consists of a Unity developer, a 3D modeller and a designer or artist, and sign up before May 20th!

Huis voor Beeldcultuur (House of Visual Culture) is organizing 'Hack the park! A battle between five international teams that lasts 72 hours.

As a team you are challenged to create an original, creative and innovative augmented reality environment for the Chassépark in Breda. As a team, you will give your own interpretation of the assignment. Do you want it to be spectacular? Or like a fairy tale? Will you build in a gaming element? Or should it be an interactive shape? Let your imagination run wild and surprise the judges and visitors!

The five augmented reality environments are presented in an app that is free for everyone to download on Android or iOS devices. The app shows a trail through the Chassé Park along the five augmented reality environments.

Subscribe to Hack the Park, by sending an email to: info@huisvoorbeeldcultuur.nl.A team consists of three people: a Unity expert, a 3D modeller and a designer or artist.We need the following information from you:
  • Name of the team
  • Name and email address of the contact person
  • Names of the participants
  • Contact information of the participants
  • Addresses of participants
  • Portfolio containing three examples of applications in Unity and 3D models developed by members of the team. And three examples of artistic projects.
Teams can apply until May 19th, 2014. From the teams who have applied the committee chooses five, based on the enclosed portfolio of applications in Unity, 3D modeling and artistic quality. The selected teams will be announced on May 24th.  

General information
Kick-off en lockdown On June 24th there is a briefing at 10:00 for the participating teams on the technical dos and don'ts and a further explanation of the assignment. The kick-off of the battle is on June 24th at 12:00. At that time, the teams are symbolically locked down for a period of 72 hours. Participants work until June 27th 12:00 hrs.  Huis voor Beeldcultuur (House of Visual Culture) provides a pleasant work environment, good food and drinks, and hotel rooms for teams from outside Breda. 

Jury and Awards Ceremony
The results are assessed by a jury. This jury consists of professionals from the creative industries. The augmented reality environments will be assessed on artistic quality, originality, technical quality and attractiveness to the public.
The award ceremony and official launch of the application is on Friday, June 27th at 20:00 at the Stadsgalerij in Breda.
